Caving in Utah

Category: Utah Caving

Caving has its unique aspects anywhere you go, and Utah is no exception. ThereĀ are an extremely diverse range of caves here, from wet stream filled passages to dusty dry desert caves. Some can be entered easily, while many of the caves in the state are vertical and require technical equipment to explore. High alpine caves can only be visited a few months of the year due to snowpack, and some caves have special rules and requirements in order to protect wildlife, delicate formations, and other concerns.

With all this being pointed out, it can be tricky to get started caving in Utah. Especially if you are interested in doing so safely. After several years of actively caving here, I decided it was time to start to compile some of my resources and knowledge together for others to take advantage of what I have learned through a lot of trial and error.
